The legacy, which is not easy to match, 2008 to 2015, 8 seasons and 8 playoffs, 6 finals and two trophies, then a ban of two years and again became champion in 2018, 2021 and 2023. This is the story of Chennai Super Kings who looked invincible till 2019, from facing the first disaster in 2020 then again in 2022, Chennai never failed to surprise, but a dark cloud has shaded the legacy a bit. As the 2026 IPL is heading towards an end Chennai failed to qualify in the playoffs for the third consecutive season.
Chennai also played their first season without MS Dhoni and fans missed the pillar of the franchise. Kashi Vishwanthan the chairman of the franchise opened up after the season for the first time and hinted about many things fans wanted to know.
What has Kasi Vishwanthan said?
In an interview with Revsportz, the CEO of Chennai Super Kings has expressed his views on CSK’s recent performance. Talking about the injury problems he said as quoted by Revsportz, “we have to be prepared for injury replacements and that is how we have operated over the years. But unfortunately, in the last couple of years, the injuries have probably been more than what we expected, and that is one of the reasons why we have had to go in for squad replacements.”

Looks like CSK management refuses to learn from its mistakes.
Either give him captaincy or ask him to retire and lead as a mentor. Not this shitclownery pic.twitter.com/LPYib40NPt
“We are hoping that the youngsters would have learnt from those defeats and understood where we could have done better. I think we will improve next year.” he added.
CSK and future plans
Speaking about future plans and MS Dhoni’s role in the upcoming years, he said, “ We have not discussed anything with MS as of now because, as you know, MS takes his decisions on his own, and we respect that. We would always like to have him as a permanent fixture at CSK in whatever capacity — be it as a player, coach or mentor. Whatever it is, it depends on what he decides. Every decision depends on him.”
