Rohit Sharma unveils India's T20 World Cup jersey in Raipur

India has launched its jersey for the next mega event T20I World Cup. Defending captain Rohit Sharma unveiled the jersey.

Defending World Cup-winning captain Rohit Sharma unveiled India’s T20 World Cup jersey on Wednesday, in the innings break of the match against South Africa. Rohit Sharma, who has played every T20 World Cup event till now, has become the brand ambassador for the upcoming T20 World Cup. India became the champion of the last T20 World Cup under his leadership; it was also his last T20I match.

Tilak Varma, along with Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Debjit Shaikia, was also present at the jersey unveiling ceremony. Tilak played a key role in Suryakumar's team's success in the last Asia Cup.

Speaking at a small event, Rohit said, "We won the first T20 World Cup in 2007. We had to wait more than 15 years to win the next World Cup. It was a long journey. There were many ups and downs along the way. The feeling of winning the trophy again last time was great." He added, "The next T20 World Cup will be held in India. I hope it will be a very exciting competition. My best wishes for the team will always be there. I am sure everyone will be by the side of the team and support it. Our cricketers will also give their best."

The ceremony took place before South Africa’s innings started, and the jersey unveiling ceremony was staged on the field. Adidas, the kit sponsor of India, handed the new jerseys to S Rohit and Tilak. Suryakumar Yadav, the T20I captain of India, was unable to reach Raipur as he is playing for Mumbai in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in Lucknow. Also, the deputy of Surya Kumar Yadav is going through rehab after recovering from a neck injury at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. In the absence of both the chiefs of the Indian T20I setup, Rohit and Tilak unveiled the jersey. The deep blue jersey has an orange strip on both sides. India is going to wear the jersey in the upcoming series against the Proteas.
