With the T20 World Cup just a month away, Indian cricket fans were left worried on Thursday after Tilak Varma complained of abdominal pain before a Vijay Hazare Trophy match. He was taken to a hospital in Rajkot, where doctors advised surgery. Since then, concerns had grown over his availability for the World Cup. Later in the evening, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) issued an official statement to clarify his condition and recovery plan.
BCCI update on Tilak Varma's health
According to the BCCI statement, Tilak Varma was admitted to a hospital in Rajkot on Thursday morning after experiencing abdominal pain. He underwent surgery and was discharged the same day. It was informed that he will return to Hyderabad on Friday and that his condition is stable and improving.
The board also said that Tilak has not yet resumed physical training. Training will begin only after all symptoms have completely subsided and the surgical wound has healed. Skill-based activities will be started gradually, depending on his recovery.
