The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) launched the Women’s Premier League (WPL) in 2023. The excitement surrounding the tournament has increased further in 2025 following India’s ODI World Cup victory, featuring players like Richa Ghosh and Smriti Mandhana.

This season of the WPL begins on Friday, January 9. The opening match will see two strong teams, Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, face each other. Even before the match begins, the BCCI has announced a major attraction for fans.
