Vice-captain at just 14, Vaibhav Suryavanshi gets big responsibility in new season

After the IPL, young cricketer Vaibhav Suryavanshi has also come into the spotlight representing the national team. He has been successful not just in T-Twenty but in any format. Recently, he caught attention during tours to England and Australia with India's Under-19 team. And Vaibhav has received the reward for this consistent good performance. He will be seen with big responsibility in the upcoming Ranji Trophy. At just 14 years of age, Vaibhav has been chosen as vice-captain of Bihar's cricket team. Bihar has announced a 15-member squad for the first phase matches of the Ranji Trophy.

Why was Vaibhav chosen as vice-captain?

The 14-year-old Vaibhav has been in great form recently. His bat produced a brilliant innings of 113 runs in the first Test on Australian soil. Before this, he also caught attention during the England tour. He scored a total of 355 runs at an average of 71 in 5 ODI matches. This included an innings of 143 runs.

Vaibhav is not new to the Ranji Trophy either. He made his debut in this tournament for Bihar's senior team last season itself. Vaibhav was then 12 years and 284 days old. This young cricketer scored 100 runs playing 5 matches in the Ranji Trophy. However, he didn't get big scores last season, with 41 being the highest. But this season, Vaibhav is determined to bring change to those statistics.

This season's Ranji Trophy begins from October 15. Sakibul Gani will lead Bihar. Bihar will face Arunachal Pradesh in the first match. In the second match on October 25, their opponents will be Manipur. Cricket lovers will be watching how well Vaibhav can handle the responsibility of vice captaincy alongside batting.
