Virat Kohli, one of the legends of the game, has scored his 53rd ODI century in the second ODI against the Proteas. From 2009 to 2025, Kohli has come up as one of the most disciplined sports individuals and set his own template in the game. Kohli, who took retirement from the two formats of the game, is playing only one format and has not played any cricket before his comeback in Australia.

Failing there, it was a challenge for him to come and conquer his best format, ODI, and in this series against South Africa, he slammed two centuries in two consecutive matches first one in Ranchi and the second one in the 53rd of his career has now come in Raipur.

Here is a list of his five famous ODI knocks

In 2009, in the Sri Lanka series, young Virat Kohli smashed his first century and made a 224-run stand with Gambhir. This innings will always come first whenever someone asks for his famous knocks. It was the first steps that led him to become a legend.

Virat Kohli’s standout performance in the 2015 World Cup is one of the loveliest things Indians have ever seen. In the group match against the then-heavyweight Pakistan, the Chasemaster made 107 runs and formed a 129-run partnership with Dhawan. The innings consisted of just eight boundaries. Virat's innings secured a victory for India, maintaining their World Cup-winning streak against Pakistan.

Virat’s knock against Sri Lanka in the 2012 tri-series in Australia was one of the finest he ever delivered. Virat made an unbeaten 133. India needed to chase 321 runs in 40 overs to get to the final of the tri-series, and chasemaster Kohli guided the team to victory in just 37 overs in Hobart.

Virat Kohli gave one of his most memorable performances against Australia in the 2013 bilateral series in Jaipur. Virat Kohli became the fastest Indian player to record an ODI century while chasing a 360-run mark. He reached 100 in 52 balls.

Indians and the world recognised the modern-day great when Virat played a blistering innings of 183 against Pakistan in Dhaka in the Asia Cup. This is also the highest knock in an ODI of his illustrious career.

Virat now holds the record for scoring the most centuries in ODIs; he has scored 53 centuries till today.
