Former Indian cricketer Parthiv Patel has called Ravindra Jadeja “India’s greatest all-rounder,” ahead of legends like Kapil Dev and modern stars such as Ben Stokes and Shakib Al Hasan. Speaking ahead of the second Test against the West Indies, Parthiv said Jadeja’s all-round numbers and impact across formats make him unmatched in world cricket.
With 334 Test wickets and just 10 runs short of 4000, Jadeja is on the verge of joining an elite group that includes Kapil Dev, Daniel Vettori and Ian Botham — players who have achieved the double of 4000 runs and 300 wickets in Tests.
"Jadeja is undoubtedly India's greatest all-rounder. With nearly 4,000 runs and approaching 335 wickets, I expect him to surpass 400 wickets and 4,000 runs by the end of his career, which is a monumental achievement. On the global stage, he is currently the number one all-rounder, there is no debate about it," Parthiv was quoted as telling on JioHotstar, according to an ANI report.
Parthiv praised Jadeja’s consistency, saying it’s his ability to perform in all conditions that makes him stand apart. According to Patel, Jadeja is far ahead of Ben Stokes or Shakib for that matter.
Jadeja’s 2025 form has been exceptional. He has scored 659 runs in seven Tests this year at an average above 82, including two centuries and five fifties. His unbeaten 104 and four wickets in the Ahmedabad Test against the West Indies earned him the Player of the Match award.
Parthiv credited Jadeja’s growth to the trust shown by team management.
