Pakistan’s Fakhar Zaman has been fined 10 per cent of his match fees for violating level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the Tri-series final against Sri Lanka on November 25. What did he do to earn a demerit point?
According to TOI, ICC mentioned, “One demerit point has been added to Zaman’s disciplinary record for which was the first offence in 24 months.” The incident happened during the tri-series final against Sri-Lanka when Zaman got involved in a dispute with the on-field umpires about the decision of his dismissal in the 19th over of the match. There will be no formal hearing for this matter as Fakhar Zaman has admitted the offence and accepted the fine. The sanction was proposed by Reon King of the ICC International Panel of Match Referees. The charge was brought forward by the on-field umpires Ahsan Raza and Asif Yaqoob, and third umpire Faisal Afridi.
