Mohun Bagan Super Giant chairman Sanjiv Goenka on Wednesday announced free entry for supporters for the club's upcoming Indian Super League (ISL) 2026 match against Odisha FC. The match will be played on Friday, March 6, at Yuva Bharati Krirangan.

The announcement comes after disciplinary action was taken against Mohun Bagan following alleged misbehaviour by a section of supporters during a previous match against Kerala Blasters FC. The All India Football Federation (AIFF) had initially ordered that the Odisha match be played behind closed doors. The punishment was later reduced, allowing partial spectator entry, though the exact number of permitted spectators was not disclosed.

Free tickets announced

On March 4, Goenka stated that supporters would be allowed to enter the stadium free of charge for the Odisha match. He said each supporter would receive two general tickets at no cost.

"On the occasion of Holi and International Women's Day, we are going to do something special for our supporters. As a mark of respect and honor to our supporters, we have decided that each supporter will be given two general tickets free of charge for the Odisha match," Goenka said.

He added that the initiative was intended to recognise the supporters' love, passion, and loyalty towards the team.

Disciplinary action against Mohun Bagan

The disciplinary decision had drawn criticism from sections of the fan base, who felt the action was harsh. Supporters argued that matches involving Mohun Bagan attract significant attendance in the ISL and that restrictions affected genuine fans.

Although the federation later permitted limited entry, some supporters said the measure was insufficient. Following the chairman's latest announcement, many fans expressed support for the move, describing it as a strong response to the earlier restrictions.

The March 6 fixture is now expected to see a significant turnout at Salt Lake Stadium.
