Mohun Bagan SG has postponed the start of their training schedule. The club had earlier announced that practice under the new head coach would begin on November 30. But the session has been pushed by a day, and Mohun Bagan will now start training at Yuba Bharati Krirangan from December 1.

However, Sergio Lobera who is appointed as head coach in place of José Molina, has still not reached Kolkata. All Mohun Bagan players are expected to regroup by November 30. Robson has already arrived in the city and surprised many by showing up at the club ground for two days, even training with the junior team. The remaining players will join camp by Sunday.

The bigger question remains that when will Sergio Lobera join the squad? His arrival is uncertain because he hasn’t received his visa yet. He will only take charge once the visa is cleared. Until then, the goalkeeping coach and the strength & conditioning coach will oversee training.

Sources say the Mohun Bagan management has already held extensive discussions with Lobera about the squad. The Spanish coach is happy with the team as it is. He is ready to take on the new challenge with Molina’s players and has clearly stated that he does not want any new signings.

The only exception: Lobera will bring one assistant coach with him. All other members of the support staff including the goalkeeping coach and the strength & conditioning coach will remain unchanged. His assistant coach, David Diogracia, holds a UEFA Pro Licence and has coaching experience in multiple clubs. This will be the only change from the Molina era.

Meanwhile, uncertainty remains over the start of the ISL season. However, with government intervention, it is almost certain that the Indian Super League will go ahead this year. Mohun Bagan has already begun preparations and now all eyes are on when the ISL officially kicks off.
