Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite, widely known as Kaka, one of the greats of Brazilian football, saw a bizarre development as fake news about his death sparked a row all the way through the internet. The finest midfielder of a generation, who used to own the field on his own way, saw the headlines about his death with his own eyes on Monday. The news of his death stunned every football lover when it became viral. Born in 1983, Kaka, 43 years old, has lifted the World Cup in 2002 and represented Sao Paolo, AC Milan and Real Madrid in his career. He is appreciated for his highly versatile gameplay and creative football. In 2017, he retired from football after appearing in 62 matches for his national side. He has played in the major leagues like Serie A and La Liga, where he appeared in approximately 426 matches in his career and scored approximately 137 times.

On Tuesday, news of his sudden death covered the football world with deep shock and grief.

Why did fake news of the death of Kaka spread?

Kaka has not opened up about this till now. False reports claiming the death of Kaka surfaced early Tuesday after an unverified social media post went viral. The claim quickly gained traction, amplified by reposts and algorithm-driven visibility, despite the absence of any official confirmation from family, representatives, or credible media outlets.

The rumour appeared convincing to some due to its sudden, declarative tone and the tendency of celebrity death hoaxes to mimic breaking news formats. However, fans soon pushed back, noting that Kaka remains active in public life and regularly participates in charity and exhibition matches, contradicting the claim.

Within hours, multiple sources clarified that the former Brazilian international was safe and well, leading to the rumour’s collapse.

Although this is not the first time rumours about Kaka have emerged, in 2015, following his divorce, a comment from his ex-wife went viral, stating she divorced Kaka because he was "too perfect." Later, his ex-wife confirmed it was not her comment.
