Train services on the Budge Budge–Sealdah line were disrupted on Tuesday night after an overhead electric wire snapped near Akra station. According to the latest reports, train movement on the section was completely suspended for safety reasons, and railway authorities immediately began repair work on the damaged overhead equipment.

According to local residents and railway police sources, the incident occurred just before the 9.05 pm train was scheduled to arrive. As the level crossing gate was being lowered, a small goods truck suddenly crashed into it, causing the gate to break. The impact also led to the snapping of the overhead electric wire. Local residents rushed to the spot and stood guard on the tracks to prevent anyone from crossing the affected section.

Train services on the Budge Budge–Sealdah line were halted immediately after the incident. As trains remained suspended for an extended period, passengers began crowding the station premises, leading to tension at Akra station. Regular commuters faced significant inconvenience due to the sudden disruption.

Railway police reached the spot soon after receiving information about the accident, followed shortly by police personnel from Mahestala police station. The situation was brought under control after passengers were informed about the reason for the disruption. According to railway police sources, repair work on the snapped overhead wire is currently underway.
