The Tennessee Titans are finalising an agreement to hire Robert Saleh, as the franchise’s next head coach, He is currently the defensive coordinator of the San Francisco 49ers. The decision is taken after an extensive offseason coaching search and interviews with several candidates, including Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy.
Saleh, 46, is all set to return to the top leadership role in the NFL after a successful interview process with Titans management. The team is looking forward to seeking a fresh start following a 3–14 season in 2025.
Coaching background and track record
Saleh’s coaching career spans two decades across the league. He previously served as head coach of the New York Jets from 2021 until midway through the 2024 season, compiling a 20–36 record before his dismissal following a 2–3 start. After leaving New York, Saleh returned to the 49ers in 2025 for his second stint as defensive coordinator, helping guide the unit through a challenging season marked by significant injuries while still achieving competitive defensive rankings.

Before his head coaching tenure, Saleh had a four-year run as the 49ers’ defensive coordinator from 2017 to 2020, where he helped build one of the league’s most dynamic defensive units and contributed to a Super Bowl appearance.
