Rumours around the Apple iPhone 18 Pro and Apple iPhone 18 Pro Max are beginning to paint a picture of a noticeably refreshed flagship lineup. While Apple typically keeps details tightly guarded ahead of launch, leaks and supply-chain reports suggest the 2026 Pro models could introduce a distinctive transparent-style finish along with new colours and design refinements. If these reports prove accurate, the devices may offer one of the most visually striking changes to the iPhone lineup in recent years.
A transparent twist to the iPhone design
According to The Times of India, one of the most talked-about rumoured changes is a transparent rear glass finish, which could reveal or highlight parts of the internal structure beneath the back panel. The design tweak is expected to be largely aesthetic rather than functional, possibly showcasing elements like the MagSafe coil or internal layout for a futuristic look.
Although the general design language of the phone may remain similar to the previous generation, this transparent element could help differentiate the new models from earlier devices. Some leaks also suggest Apple might adjust the rear glass structure to create a more unified colour appearance between the frame and the back panel. The move would echo a broader trend in smartphone design where companies experiment with partially transparent panels to highlight engineering details and give devices a more premium aesthetic.

New colours and performance upgrades expected
In addition to design changes, the iPhone 18 Pro lineup is expected to arrive in new colour options, with leaks pointing to shades such as purple, burgundy and brown, alongside the traditional finishes typically offered in the Pro series.
The upcoming models are also rumoured to include several hardware improvements. Reports indicate the devices could be powered by Apple’s A20 Pro chip, which may deliver faster processing speeds and improved efficiency.
Camera capabilities may also see a boost, with speculation around a variable aperture main camera, allowing users to control how much light enters the lens for improved photography in different lighting conditions. Another expected change is a smaller Dynamic Island, potentially shrinking the cut-out area on the display by around 35 per cent. As with most iPhone launches, the new models are expected to be unveiled around September 2026, though Apple has yet to confirm any details officially.
