The loss of luggage while traveling by air can cause a lot of trouble within, especially when the passenger has to wait for information about the missing luggage. To overcome this problem, Google has recently launched a new feature called Find Hub, which enables travellers to share the location of missing luggage in real time with the concerned airline.
The tool aims to make it easier for airline staff to locate missing luggage by providing live tracking information. According to reports cited by Business Today, the feature has already been rolled out with Turkish Airlines, which has integrated it into its baggage-tracking system.

Find Hub is part of Google's broader plan to create a unified platform for locating tracked items across devices. In the travel sector, the feature is drawing attention as airlines explore faster ways to recover misplaced luggage.
How travellers can use Find Hub
Google has designed the process so that passengers can quickly share location details once they realise their bag has not arrived at the baggage carousel.
Travellers must first attach a Find Hub-compatible tracker or accessory to their luggage. If the bag goes missing, they can share its location within minutes using the app.
Passengers can do the following inside the Find Hub app:
Open the app and choose the missing item.
Tap "Share Item Location" to generate a secure URL showing the bag's real-time position.
Paste the link into the participating airline's baggage claim form on its app or website.
Allow staff to use the link to view updated location details.
Google says the system includes several privacy controls for users. Reports indicate that passengers can stop sharing the location link whenever they choose, while the shared link automatically expires after seven days.
The feature also stops sharing once the phone detects that the bag has returned nearby. In addition, all data transmitted through the system is encrypted.

These safeguards are intended to ensure that travellers retain full control over who can view their location information and for how long.
Airlines partnering with the feature
At launch, Google has partnered with more than ten international airlines to integrate Find Hub into their baggage handling systems. Early partners include Turkish Airlines, Air India, AJet, China Airlines, Lufthansa Group carriers (Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Swiss), Saudia, and Scandinavian Airlines (SAS).
More airlines are expected to adopt the feature in the near future, including Qantas.
One of the main benefits of Find Hub is that it would help the airlines reduce the time taken to pinpoint the location of the lost luggage. Rather than relying on internal scanning and communication between airports, the airlines would be able to track the location of the luggage in a more efficient manner.
According to NDTV report, passenger-authorised location sharing can also feed into systems like WorldTracer, which would help the airlines' staff handle delayed baggage in a better manner.
