The calendar says it's peak spring in Kolkata now. However, Friday morning's weather made it feel like mid-December or January. Dense fog has enveloped everything. The fog is so thick that people even an arm's length away are not visible. The fog's dominance was seen well into the day.

However, the fog's impact has been observed more in South Bengal districts, not just in Kolkata. The fog's dominance is highest in coastal districts. Though fog was seen in various North Bengal districts, its density was lower. This weather condition has mainly occurred due to the combined effect of western disturbances and active cyclonic circulation.
