25-year-old Swedish visitor dies after fall from Belapur tower, inquiry underway

A 25-year-old Swedish national died after falling from a building in Navi Mumbai while attending a friend’s wedding. Police have registered an ADR and begun an investigation.

A 25-year-old Swedish national died after falling from a high-rise building in Navi Mumbai. He had travelled to attend a friend’s wedding. The incident took place in the Belapur area, which later turned into a police investigation, trying to find the circumstances surrounding the fall.

The deceased has been identified as a resident of Sweden who arrived in India recently for the wedding celebrations. He was staying at a residential building in Navi Mumbai when the incident took place. Police said the man fell from an upper floor of the building and sustained fatal injuries.

According to News18, the incident occurred late at night when the victim reportedly fell from the building premises under circumstances that are still being examined by the police officials. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Police officials said no suicide note was found at the spot, and there were no immediate signs of foul play. Initial inquiries suggest that the fall may have been accidental, but officers said all angles are being verified.

A case of accidental death has been registered, and statements of people who were present in the building at the time have been recorded. CCTV footage from the premises is also being examined to reconstruct the sequence of events leading up to the fall.

The victim’s family has been informed through diplomatic channels. Swedish consular officials are in touch with local authorities to assist with formalities, including repatriation of the body.

Police said further clarity would emerge after the post-mortem report and forensic analysis are completed.
