A case was filed in Calcutta High Court alleging serious irregularities in teacher recruitment by the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration or GTA. In that case, the High Court on Wednesday ordered the cancellation of jobs. A major blow to the state in the hill recruitment corruption case. The High Court ordered the dismissal of 317 people who received illegal appointments. Justice Biswajit Basu observed that this recruitment process was completely illegal.
The court further observed that teacher recruitment took place between 1999 and 2014. Although Roshan Giri proposed regularization of all teachers at a GTA meeting, the state government clearly objected to that proposal.

The GTA claimed that due to the political situation at the time, regular recruitment process was not possible. However, the court completely rejected this argument. The court accepted the petitioners' statement and noted that recruitment took place in other sectors during the same period, making the argument of 'impossibility' baseless.
The court further stated that although regularization was mentioned, in reality this was new recruitment done under the guise of regularization, which was clearly a violation of law. The court clearly stated that recruitment did not follow proper procedures. Following this, the order to cancel jobs was issued.
