The BJP claims that SIR was implemented in the state to remove infiltrators' names from the voter list. However, even after the draft voter list was published on Tuesday, the Election Commission has not provided any clear statistics on how many infiltrators are in the state. In this situation, two Trinamool Congress MPs, Jagadishchandra Barma Basunia and Sharmila Sarkar, had sought statistics from the central government to know the number of infiltrations into the country since 2014.
Based on their questions, the centre provided specific statistics on infiltration from various countries.
