Two more arrests were made by Kolkata Police on Monday in the vandalism that took place at the Salt Lake Stadium when Lionel Messi visited the city.
Reportedly, Police has arrested Subhopratim Dey and Gourab Basu under BDN South PS Case No. 218/25 and are to be forwarded before the Court. One day after Shatadru Dutta, the key organiser of the G.O.A.T. India Tour event in Kolkata, was denied bail by the Bidhannagar Court, the individuals were apprehended by the police.

Additional arrests related to the ruckus
Along with Dey and Basu, Kolkata Police arrested three other accused persons connected with the case registered under BDN South PS Case No. 218/25. They are Basudev Das, Sanjay Das, and Abhijit Das. All five accused are due to be forwarded before the court, even as investigations continue into the incident.
Legal proceedings
The accused have been booked under various sections of BNS, such as 221, 132, 121(1), 121(2), 324(5), 117(2) and many more related offences of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act. Police investigation is in process, and more updates are expected as the legal process unfolds.
Organiser in Police custody
Sub-inspector Anjan Bauri said that Shatadru Dutta was picked up just before boarding the Hyderabad flight. Later, Dutta was taken to the Bidhannagar Sub-divisional Court on Sunday, where police sought custody. After hearing the arguments, the court sent him to 14 days of police custody. Dutta had several charges of mismanagement and vandalism regarding the incident on December 13 at the stadium.

Chaos erupted at Yuva Bharati Stadium on Saturday in Kolkata as Messi came for the G.O.A.T. India Tour. Irate fans who were disappointed with the scarce view of the football starlet wreaked havoc on the stadium. There were complaints from viewers that VIPs crowded the star, and no one was able to witness the star, despite holding tickets to the event. The further unrest escalated when Messi left the field.
The Bidhannagar South Police registered a suo-moto case in this regard and started an investigation process. The authorities have stressed that maintaining law and order during such high-profile events is a priority, and arrests are being made to ensure accountability.
