There are allegations that BLOs have committed suicide in West Bengal and several other states, unable to bear the pressure of voter list revision work. However, many have completed their SIR work ahead of the stipulated time. This time, the Hooghly district administration felicitated 12 BLOs for successfully completing 100 percent of the work of distributing, receiving and uploading SIR forms online ahead of the scheduled time.
According to Hooghly district administration sources, some of those BLOs completed their work within 16 days, while others finished within 18 or 19 days. Among those who completed this work is Kuntal Ghoshal, headmaster of Teluya Shishu Shiksha Niketan in Bantala gram panchayat. He was the BLO for booth number 182 in Shatpur village of Arambagh Madhavpur panchayat.
For completing his work ahead of time, Arambagh SDO Ravi Kumar felicitated him on Tuesday with a bouquet of flowers and by draping him with an 'uttariya'.
Just a few days ago, a woman BLO from Pandua in this very district was seen crying loudly while sitting at the dining table. There were allegations that she was facing problems while working. And in that very block, four people were felicitated for setting a precedent in the work of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists. According to block administration sources, BLO Pratap Majhi of booth number 180 completed his work within 16 days, BLO Anupama Ghosh of booth number 135 and BLO Sheikh Dildar Hosen of booth number 204 completed their work within 18 days, and BLO Shovan Kumar of booth number 215 finished his work within 19 days. For this reason, Pandua BDO Sevanti Biswas felicitated these four people on Tuesday.
Similarly, Shyam Hansda of Balagarh assembly constituency, Pravir Ghoshal of Dhaniakhali and five BLOs from Singur block were felicitated.
They said this success came because of working according to plan. At the same time, they did not consider this work as additional pressure.
