CBSE cancels Class 10 exams, postpones Class 12 tests in Middle East — full details here

The decision applies to CBSE-affiliated schools in Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has cancelled all Class 10 board examinations and postponed Class 12 examinations scheduled in several Middle Eastern countries. The decision applies to CBSE-affiliated schools in Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

According to the board, the move was taken after reviewing the current situation in the region. The exams affected include those that were originally scheduled earlier in March as well as those planned in the coming days.

Class 10 exams cancelled

CBSE confirmed that all Class 10 examinations scheduled between March 7 and March 11 have been cancelled. In addition, exams that were earlier postponed, scheduled for March 2, March 5 and March 6, have also been cancelled.

The board said the process for announcing results for Class 10 students in the Middle East will be communicated later.

Class 12 exams postponed

For Class 12 students, the examination scheduled for March 7, 2026 has been postponed. The board stated that revised dates will be announced after reviewing the situation.

CBSE will also assess the conditions again on March 7 before taking a final decision regarding examinations scheduled from March 9 onwards.

CBSE issues official notice

In its official circular shared on X, the board stated:

"In continuation of Circulars dated 01.03.2026 and 03.03.2026, and after a critical review of the prevailing situation in parts of the Middle East (Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE), the Board has taken the following decisions:

Class X Examinations

a) All examinations scheduled from 07.03.2026 to 11.03.2026 stand cancelled.

b) Examinations scheduled on 02.03.2026, 05.03.2026, and 06.03.2026, which were earlier postponed, shall also stand cancelled.

c) The mode of declaration of results for Class X candidates in the Middle East will be notified separately in due course.

Class XII Examinations

a) The examination scheduled on Saturday, 07 March 2026 has been postponed. Revised dates will be announced later.

b) The Board will review the situation on Saturday, 07 March 2026 and issue appropriate directions regarding examinations scheduled from Monday, 09 March 2026 onwards.

c) All Class XII students are advised to remain in close contact with their schools and follow official announcements carefully."



Earlier postponements

The latest circular comes a day after CBSE had already postponed Class 10 and Class 12 examinations scheduled on March 5 and March 6 in the Middle East.

At that time, the board had stated it would review the situation on March 5 before deciding on examinations scheduled from March 7 onwards. The new announcement now clarifies the board’s decision regarding those exams.
