Donald Trump announced on Monday that his White House Chief of Staff, Susie Wiles, has been diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer. The 68-year-old is set to begin treatment immediately and plans to continue working in her role during the process.

Trump shared the news through a post on the social platform Truth Social.

“Susie Wiles is an incredible Chief of Staff, a great person, and one of the strongest people I know but, unfortunately, she has been diagnosed with early stage breast cancer, and has decided to take on this challenge, IMMEDIATELY, as opposed to waiting,” he wrote.

He further added that she is receiving strong medical support. “She has a fantastic medical team, and her prognosis is excellent!”

Trump also confirmed that Wiles will continue to carry out her responsibilities at the White House. “During the treatment period, she will be spending virtually full time at the White House, which makes me, as President, very happy!” he posted.

Susie Wiles shared on X (formerly Twitter), "Last week, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Nearly one in eight women in the United States will face this diagnosis. Every day, these women continue to raise their families, go to work, and serve their communities with strength and determination. I now join their ranks. I am grateful to have an outstanding team of doctors who detected the cancer early and are guiding my care, and I am encouraged by a very good prognosis."

Old Facebook post circulates online

Following the announcement, a week-old Facebook post began circulating widely online. However, News Ei Samay has not independently verified the claims in the post.

The post, written on March 8 by a user named Garvit Pandey, made claims about Wiles’ sleep habits and work routine.

The viral message stated, “America, I'm about to tell you something about Susie Wiles that's going to make you realize what TRUE SACRIFICE looks like because while we're all sleeping comfortably 7-8 hours every night, Susie is doing something that would destroy most people's health within weeks, and she's been doing it for YEARS without a single complaint. Susie Wiles sleeps only 3-4 HOURS every night. Not occasionally. EVERY. SINGLE. NIGHT. Managing Trump's impossible schedule, coordinating the entire White House operations, handling crises that never stop — all on 3-4 hours of sleep. Night after night. Month after month. Year after year. White House staff have BEGGED her repeatedly: ‘Susie, you NEED rest! Your body can't survive on 3-4 hours forever. Please sleep more. Please take care of yourself.’ Susie's response absolutely destroys me every time: ‘I'll sleep when America is SAFE. Right now, duty CALLS. Rest can wait. America can't.’”

The post has gained traction on social media since Trump revealed her diagnosis. Susie Wiles is expected to begin treatment right away. According to Trump, her medical team has expressed confidence in her recovery. The White House has not released further details about her treatment plan, and Wiles has not issued a public statement so far.

Ways to reduce the risk of breast cancer

Health experts say certain lifestyle habits may help reduce the risk of breast cancer. Limiting alcohol consumption, maintaining a healthy weight, and exercising regularly can be beneficial.

Breastfeeding and avoiding smoking may also provide protection. Doctors also advise limiting hormone therapy after menopause, as it may increase the risk.

Following a healthy diet- such as the Mediterranean diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and healthy fats -may also help lower the chances of developing the disease.
