Hyundai Motor India is preparing to expand its SUV portfolio with four new models expected to launch by next year, as the company looks to strengthen its position in the fast-growing Indian SUV market.
Hyundai preparing major SUV expansion in India
The upcoming lineup will include electric, hybrid and internal combustion engine (ICE) SUVs, showing Hyundai’s strategy to cater to different types of buyers. SUVs already account for a major share of the company’s sales in India, with models like the Creta, Venue and Tucson performing strongly in recent years.
Industry reports suggest that Hyundai is planning to introduce new vehicles across different segments so that it can compete more aggressively with rivals such as Tata Motors, Mahindra and Maruti Suzuki in the SUV space.

Electric Creta and new global SUVs expected
One of the most anticipated models is the Creta Electric, which is expected to be Hyundai’s next big EV for the Indian market. The electric SUV is likely to be based on the popular Creta platform and could offer a competitive driving range and modern features aimed at urban buyers. Another model expected is a new-generation Tucson with hybrid technology, which would bring improved fuel efficiency and lower emissions compared to the current petrol and diesel versions.

Hyundai is also reportedly preparing two additional SUV models, which may include a new compact SUV and another global product adapted for India. These vehicles are expected to strengthen Hyundai’s presence in the sub-compact and mid-size SUV categories. With the SUV market continuing to grow rapidly in India, Hyundai’s upcoming launches are part of its broader strategy to maintain strong competition against domestic manufacturers and global brands operating in the country.
