Nobel laureate Narges Mohammadi is back in hospital after falling ill due to repeated arrests and police brutality! Iranian human rights activist Narges was arrested again on December 12. Just a few days later, the Nobel Peace Prize winner had to be admitted to the hospital's emergency department. On Monday, her family alleged through the Narges Foundation that she has been admitted to the emergency ward twice due to brutal arrests and torture by security forces.

Narges has been fighting against Iran's inhumane death penalty policy and for women's rights for more than three decades. When she won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2023, she was imprisoned on charges of 'anti-government' activities. The Iranian social worker was released from Tehran's Evin Prison in December last year for medical treatment. According to a post on the X handle of the Narges Foundation run by her family, they spoke to Narges over the phone on Sunday night.
She said there that the police beating was so severe and the way she was repeatedly tortured made her fall ill. The human rights activist was physically devastated while speaking. The Nobel laureate's family said Narges told them that she has been accused of allegedly providing constant support to the Israeli government. She has previously received multiple death threats from security forces. Along with saying this, she has appealed to her lawyers to immediately file complaints against the violent arrest and police.

According to sources, she was released from prison late last year. Narges participated in a discussion meeting organized last Friday to protest the suspicious death of Khosro Alikardi, a human rights lawyer in Iran. The activist was arrested from there. A lawyer named Hesam Hematifar alleged that Narges and Alikardi's brother were making 'provocative statements' at the memorial meeting held in a city in the northeast of Mashhad. Not only that, according to the lawyer, 'she also encouraged everyone present there to chant slogans that violate rules and disturb peace.'
