England's World Cup training gear recovered a day after theft, two charged

Training equipment belonging to the England football team, reportedly worth around Rs 17 lakh, has been recovered less than 24 hours after it was stolen in Kansas City.

A potentially disruptive incident for the England football team has been resolved quickly after authorities recovered the squad's stolen training equipment less than a day after it went missing in Kansas City.

The equipment, valued at approximately Rs 17 lakh, was stolen while being transported to England's training base ahead of the FIFA World Cup. The theft had raised concerns within the camp after reports suggested that boots, footballs and other essential training materials were among the missing items.

Police in Missouri moved swiftly following the incident and managed to locate the equipment within 24 hours.

Two Texas men face felony charges

According to India Today, Jackson County authorities have charged two men from Texas in connection with the case. The accused have been identified as Mustafa Salik and Erfan Kamal, both residents of San Antonio.

According to officials, both men have been charged with one felony count of receiving stolen property. The offence has been classified as a Class D felony, which carries a maximum prison sentence of seven years under Missouri law.

A court has set a bond at $75,000 for each of the accused.

Investigators have not yet disclosed how the suspects came into possession of the equipment or whether additional individuals may have been involved in the theft.

Theft sparked concern in England camp

According to India Today, the incident occurred as England's World Cup preparations gathered momentum in Kansas City. Equipment being transported to the team's training facility reportedly disappeared after vehicles carrying the gear were targeted.

Early reports indicated that items belonging to players and coaching staff were among the stolen materials, prompting immediate concern within the Football Association.

Kansas City police launched an investigation soon after the theft was reported and worked alongside English team officials to identify and recover the missing equipment.

Focus returns to World Cup preparations

With the stolen items now recovered, England can return its full attention to preparations for the tournament. The team is among the favourites for the World Cup and has established its training base in Kansas City ahead of its opening fixtures.

The quick recovery of the equipment has spared manager Thomas Tuchel and his squad a potentially significant logistical headache during a crucial stage of their preparations.

Authorities have indicated that investigations into the theft remain ongoing, while the two accused are expected to face further legal proceedings in Missouri.
