A major fire incident was reported early Sunday morning on the Delhi-bound Rajdhani Express near Kota, triggering panic among passengers. Railway officials confirmed that all 68 passengers on board the affected coach were rescued without any injuries.

Fire breaks out in AC coach

The blaze started at around 5:15 am in the B-1 air-conditioned coach of train number 12431 near Vikramgarh Alot railway station. At the time of the incident, the train was en route from Thiruvananthapuram to Delhi’s Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station, having already covered a distance of nearly 2,600 kilometres.

As per a report by NDTV, visuals from the site showed thick black smoke rising from the coach, indicating the intensity of the fire. Flames were also seen spreading to nearby vegetation along the railway track.

Swift action prevents casualties

Railway authorities acted quickly to contain the situation. The affected coach was immediately detached from the train to prevent the fire from spreading further. At the same time, the overhead electric supply was switched off as a precautionary measure.

As per a report by NDTV, the railways said that all the passengers were safely deboarded from the train, and arrangements have been made to accommodate them in other coaches for the journey up to Kota.

Travel arrangements restored

The report further stated that to ensure minimal disruption, officials confirmed that an additional coach would be attached at Kota station to maintain the train’s capacity. Passengers were shifted accordingly so the journey could continue without major delays.

While the situation has been brought under control, the exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined. The cause of the fire is under investigation, the railway also stated.
