Kolkata Knight Riders delivered a dominant batting performance against Gujarat Titans in the IPL on Saturday, but the match also saw a worrying moment for GT as opener Sai Sudharsan suffered an injury during the run chase. Chasing a massive target, Gujarat’s task became even tougher after the in-form batter was forced to retire hurt following a painful blow to his left elbow.

The incident took place on the final delivery of the third over, bowled by Kartik Tyagi. Sai Sudharsan attempted to pull a short-of-length delivery but failed to time the shot properly. The ball struck him directly on the left elbow before he managed to complete a single towards backward square leg.

Immediately after taking the run, Sudharsan sat down on the field in visible discomfort. He removed his gloves as the Gujarat Titans physio rushed onto the ground for treatment. An ice pack was applied to his elbow, but after a brief assessment, the opener was unable to continue and walked off, retired hurt. Although Jos Buttler appeared ready to come in, Nishant Sindhu was eventually sent out to bat.

The injury came at a crucial stage for Gujarat, who were already under pressure while chasing a huge target against a confident Kolkata side.
Finn Allen powers KKR to a massive 247-run total
Earlier in the evening, Kolkata Knight Riders produced one of their best batting displays of the season by piling up 247 for 2 in 20 overs. Opener Finn Allen led the charge with a breathtaking 93 off just 35 deliveries.

Allen’s explosive innings included 4 boundaries and 10 sixes, meaning 86 of his runs came through boundaries alone. The New Zealand batter also benefited from two dropped catches when he was on 14 and 33, and Gujarat paid heavily for those missed opportunities.
After Allen’s dismissal, Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Cameron Green continued the assault with an unbeaten 108-run partnership for the third wicket in only 53 balls. Raghuvanshi remained unbeaten on 82, while Green finished on 52 not out as KKR smashed 22 sixes in total to register their highest score of the season.
