Jadavpur University (JU) will host a three-day Regional Mentoring Session on Innovation from May 13 to 15, bringing together nearly 200 teachers and students from PM SHRI and non-PM SHRI schools across eastern and northeastern states. The initiative is being organised by the Department of School Education and Literacy, the All India Council for Technical Education and the Ministry of Education's Innovation Cell (MIC), Government of India.

The programme will be hosted through Jadavpur University's Institution's Innovation Council (IIC), which is serving as the nodal centre for the event. Financial support for the initiative is being provided by the Ministry of Education's Innovation Cell.
Focus on innovation and entrepreneurship
The mentoring session aims to encourage innovation, ideation, creativity, entrepreneurship awareness and problem-solving skills among school students and teachers. Participants will take part in design thinking exercises, hands-on learning sessions and interactive discussions focused on innovation-driven learning.
The programme will also include exposure visits, prototype development discussions, patent awareness sessions and activities related to product realisation. On the concluding day, participating students will present and pitch their ideas before mentors and experts.
Inaugural session at Jadavpur University
The state-level inaugural session will be held at the Dr Triguna Sen Auditorium inside Jadavpur University. The event will be presided over by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Chiranjib Bhattacharjee. Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. Amitava Datta and Vibham Vyas, an official from the Ministry of Education's Innovation Cell, are also expected to attend the programme along with senior academicians and officials.
The mentoring sessions and the valedictory programme are scheduled to take place at the TEQIP Building on the university campus.

According to the organisers, selected student innovations may receive financial assistance of up to Rs 1.5 lakh under the School Innovation Contest. Schools may also receive support of up to Rs 34,100 for patent filing under the KAPILA initiative.
