The Sri Lankan all-rounder sustained the injury during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, and subsequent medical evaluations confirmed that he would not recover in time to feature in the tournament. Hasaranga, known for his wicket-taking leg-spin and handy lower-order batting, was expected to play a key role in LSG’s campaign this season. His absence leaves a noticeable gap in the team’s bowling attack, especially in the middle overs.
LSG confirms George Linde signing
In response, Lucknow Super Giants moved swiftly to name George Linde as Hasaranga’s replacement. The IPL confirmed the development in an official statement, saying, “Lucknow Super Giants have signed George Linde as a replacement for Wanindu Hasaranga, who has been ruled out of the remainder of IPL 2026 due to injury.”

Linde, a South African all-rounder, joins the squad at his base price of ₹1 crore and is set to make his debut appearance in the IPL.
