Aaron Finch has openly questioned Cameron Green’s form this season, noting that the Australian all-rounder is “not looking the same” compared to his usual aggressive and confident self. Finch’s remarks come amid Green’s string of low-impact performances with the bat for Kolkata Knight Riders.

Time for rest or role change

Finch suggested that KKR management should either promote Green up the batting order to give him more time at the crease or consider resting him altogether.

On ESPNcricinfo’s Time Out, Aaron Finch said, “One of those dismissals has been a run out, not a part of his fault. Still, he's missed out twice. There's a bit of panic; he's not looking the same as the past. Remember when he was at the top of the order for MI - how he had a totally different intent. He was imposing at the crease. Now he looks tentative. Don't push him down. Push him either up the order, or give him a rest.

Bigger expectations

Green, one of the most expensive buys of the season, arrived at KKR with massive expectations as a match-winning all-rounder. However, he has failed to deliver impactful performances so far, raising concerns about team balance and the return on investment.

Green’s dip in form has also highlighted broader problems within the KKR setup. The team has looked inconsistent in IPL 2026, and the lack of contributions from key players like Green has compounded their struggles in both batting depth and overall momentum. Adding to the concern is Green’s limited role with the ball, reportedly due to workload and injury management. This has reduced his effectiveness as an all-rounder, making his batting form even more crucial for KKR’s campaign.
