Air travel continued its strong global rebound in 2025, with millions of travellers passing through major aviation hubs across the world.

According to the latest data from the Airports Council International (ACI), the world’s busiest airports have once again been ranked based on total passenger traffic, showing which global hubs handled the highest number of flyers this year.

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, United States

Holding on to its long-time title as the world’s busiest airport, with total passengers ranging over 106.3 million, Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson remains the only airport in 2025 to cross the 100 million passenger mark.

Located in Georgia, it serves as a major domestic and international transit hub and is known for its massive flight network.

Dubai International Airport, UA

With total passengers ranging approximately to 95.2 million, Dubai International continues to dominate as one of the busiest aviation hubs in the world and the busiest in the Middle East. It plays a crucial role in connecting Europe, Asia, and Africa, making it a preferred stopover airport for long-haul international travellers.

Tokyo Haneda Airport, Japan

Tokyo Haneda remains one of Asia’s strongest aviation centres. Known for its efficiency and proximity to central Tokyo, the airport handles both heavy domestic traffic and international routes, helping it secure the third spot globally. Total passengers are about 91.7 million.

Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, United States

One of America’s biggest airline hubs, Dallas Fort Worth serves as a major connecting airport in the southern United States. Its strategic location and extensive domestic network continue to drive huge passenger numbers, total passengers are 85.7 million.

Shanghai Pudong International Airport, China

Hosting total passengers ranging to 85 million, Shanghai Pudong has emerged as China’s busiest international airport and remains one of Asia’s most important aviation centres. Its steady growth reflects China’s rapidly expanding travel and tourism market.

O’Hare International Airport, United States

Located in Chicago, O’Hare remains one of America’s most important transportation hubs, known for handling massive domestic and international traffic while connecting travellers across North America. Total passengers is 84.8 million.

London Heathrow Airport, United Kingdom

Heathrow remains Europe’s busiest airport, 84.5 million passengers, and one of the world’s most recognisable travel hubs. As London’s main international airport, it serves passengers flying across continents daily.

Istanbul Airport, Turkey

Since opening in 2018, Istanbul Airport has rapidly climbed the rankings. Its location bridging Europe and Asia has made it one of the most strategically important transit airports globally. Total passengers range to 84.4 million.

Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, China

Another major Chinese aviation hub, with 83.6 million passengers, Guangzhou Baiyun continues to benefit from rising domestic and regional travel demand, helping China secure two spots in the global top 10.

Denver International Airport, United States

Rounding out the list is Denver International, one of the busiest airports in the western United States. Its central location makes it a major domestic connector for coast-to-coast travel. Total passengers is 82.4 million.
