On April 8, in Sarai Rohilla, North Delhi, a routine police visit for questioning in a sexual assault case took a turn after the accused allegedly escaped from his residence. The incident took place around 7:30 pm, when a sub-inspector and a head constable reached the accused’s fourth-floor home. The visit occurred after the police received a call from the accused’s son, who said his father was unwell and could not come to the police station.

The police noted that the questioning had begun when the situation inside the house completely changed. While the officers were interacting with the accused, other family members allegedly moved towards the main entrance and locked it, leaving the two officers unable to step out.

During the questioning, the accused asked to go upstairs, saying he needed to use the restroom. When one of the officers tried to follow him, his wife allegedly stopped the officer and delayed him. At the same time, one of the sons reportedly took the accused upstairs and locked the gate behind them.

Police said that the family also locked the gate to their floor, which stopped the officers from moving freely or chasing the accused. With no other options, the officers informed the police station about the situation.
