As of December 28 at 5 pm MST, Bosque Brewing Company shut down "all branded public houses with heavy hearts". This is the latest addition in the list of many other craft beer brands that have suspended their operations in the United States.
The 'craft beer apocalypse' being witnessed in the US has led to closure of more than 385 breweries in 2023 alone. According to data released by the Brewers Association, 2023 was a historically bad year for "small, independent" craft brewers in the US.
Making its way into 2025 as well, the apocalypse claimed another 250 breweries in just the first six months of the year and for the latter part of the year, the number of breweries that shut down was even higher.

What caused so many closures, you ask? According to American Craft Beer, the increasing price of ingredients, labour and products combined with slow taproom traffic and intense retail competition were some of the reasons.
What happened with Bosque Brewing?
In October 2025, Bosque filed a Chapter 11 bankruptcy case through which the company wanted to reorganise its debt. However, on December 22, a federal judge dismissed the case because the debts were too much to be reorganised. Thereafter, the company made the announcement of shutting down all its operations on December 28.
The company stated, "Bosque has been built on community, and we are forever grateful to everyone who supported our taprooms, shared a pint with us, and made our spaces feel like home. Most of all, thank you to our incredible team, past and present. We’re really going to miss seeing your faces in our taprooms. That part hurts."
Brand's legacy
In its 13 years of journey, Bosque had created a community with the New Mexico beer lovers. Their beers like 'Weekend Trails Pale Ale', 'Riverwalker IPA' and 'Elephants on Parade Wheat Ale' were some of the favourites.

The crisis at large
This closure is not an isolated incident. Another recent closing was Miamisburg, Ohio, craft brewery Entropy Brewing Company, which said that it would close down its business permanently on December 27, 2025, with no plans yet to file for bankruptcy.
Here are some other companies that filed for Chapter 7 and planned to shut down. St. Petersburg which filed bankruptcy in August. Exton and San Jose, both filed in October. Rogue Ales & Spirits filed in November.
