Gold and silver prices have been rising consistently since the beginning of this year. This trend continues even as the year draws to a close. However, on Monday, the prices of these two precious metals dropped somewhat in Kolkata's market.
On Monday, the price of 24-carat pure gold decreased by 1,600 rupees per 10 grams. The price of 22-carat jewelry gold fell by 1,500 rupees per 10 grams. Meanwhile, the price of silver dropped by 7,850 rupees per kilogram.

Pure gold bar (24-carat): 1 lakh 37 thousand 950 rupees (per 10 grams)
Pure gold bar (retail): 1 lakh 38 thousand 650 rupees (per 10 grams)
Hallmarked jewelry gold (22-carat): 1 lakh 31 thousand 800 rupees (per 10 grams)

You will not be able to buy gold at these exact rates when you go to the market. The cost will be somewhat higher than these rates. This is because GST and jewelry-making charges will be added to these prices. While GST is fixed at 3 percent, the making charges may vary from shop to shop.
