Due to the syllabus not being completed on time, Calcutta University is postponing the third semester BA/BSc/BCom theory examination by one month under pressure from a section of students. The examination was supposed to start on February 23.

Vice-Chancellor Ashutosh Ghosh said on Friday, "The theory examination for over a lakh students from 150 colleges will start on March 25. However, following the previous schedule, the third semester practical examination will be held from March 6." The deadline for third semester examination form submission has been extended to February 10 instead of January 31. The last day of internal examination is February 13.

Concerns over first semester exams ahead of elections

With the postponement of the third semester theory examination, concerns have arisen among college teachers and principals regarding the first semester theory examination before the Assembly elections. The Controller of Examinations department has announced that the first semester internal examination will be held from February 16 to March 16.

The Vice-Chancellor has instructed to conduct the first semester practical examination along with the third semester theory examination. Ashutosh's concern is that if the election dates are announced after the third semester examination ends, the first semester theory examination in the second or third week of April will become uncertain.
