The National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to declare the JEE Main Session 2 (BE/BTech Paper 1) results on April 20, 2026, as per its earlier notification. Over 11 lakh candidates who appeared for the exam are awaiting the release of their scorecards.

Once announced, candidates will be able to check their results on the official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in using their application number and password. The final answer key is also likely to be released alongside the results, as per past trends.

Scorecards, percentile and what comes next

The JEE Main scorecard will include subject-wise NTA scores for Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, along with the overall percentile. The ranking is based on percentile scores rather than raw marks.

NTA uses a normalisation process to ensure fairness across multiple exam shifts with varying difficulty levels. The percentile is calculated by comparing a candidate’s performance with others in the same session.

For candidates who appeared in both Session 1 and Session 2, the better of the two NTA scores will be considered for the final merit list.

There is no provision for re-evaluation or re-checking of results, the agency has clarified.

How percentile is calculated

The percentile score indicates the comparative standing of a candidate’s performance:

Percentile = (Number of candidates with score ≤ yours/ Total number of candidates in the session) × 100

In this way, the ranking of the candidates is done objectively without being affected by the difficulty level of the paper in different shifts.

What happens after JEE Main results

Eligible students will have the chance to apply for JEE Advanced 2026, which is the entry test for IIT admission. As per the scheduled timeline, JEE Advanced registration would open on April 23 and end on May 2, followed by the exam on May 17.
