The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct NEET UG 2026 on May 3, 2026, from 2 pm to 5 pm in pen and paper mode. With the exam coming closer, candidates need to carefully follow all the rules, especially the dress code.

The exam city slip has already been released on April 12, informing candidates where their centre will be. Admit cards are expected to be released soon for all registered students.

Following the dress code is important because strict checking will be done as per the NEET UG Information Bulletin 2026. This includes frisking with metal detectors, and breaking the rules can lead to disqualification.

Dress code rules to follow

Candidates should not wear heavy clothes or outfits with long sleeves on exam day. It is better to wear light and simple clothes so that entry during security checks is easy. Those wearing cultural or traditional dress must reach the centre at least one hour before the last reporting time, which is 12:30 pm, to complete proper frisking. Slippers or sandals with low heels are recommended for comfort.

Items and accessories to avoid

Candidates should not wear watches, wristbands, bracelets, or heavy jewellery. Any kind of ornaments or metallic items are not allowed inside the exam centre. Even small accessories can create problems during checking, so it is better to keep things simple.

List of prohibited items

Candidates are not allowed to carry any written or printed material inside the exam hall. Items like geometry boxes, calculators, pen drives, scanners, and electronic pens are also banned.

Electronic devices such as mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, earphones, microphones, pagers, and health bands are strictly not allowed. Other items like wallets, handbags, belts, caps, goggles, watches, and cameras are also prohibited. Food items, whether packed or open, and water bottles are not allowed. Any item that can be used for unfair means, like hidden devices, is strictly banned.

Special cases and final instructions

In case of medical or unavoidable situations, candidates must take permission from the NTA before the admit cards are issued. Without approval, such items may not be allowed. Candidates should also reach the exam centre on time and follow all rules properly.

The NEET UG 2026 dress code rules are meant to make sure the exam is fair and smooth for everyone. Following them can help you avoid last-minute stress.

If you prepare in advance and follow all the instructions, you can stay relaxed and focus better on your exam without worrying about disqualification or delays.
