The evaluation of Madhyamik examination answer sheets is currently in progress. In the meantime, the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) has issued detailed cautionary guidelines to examiners regarding the proper checking and preservation of answer scripts. Board Secretary Subrata Ghosh has instructed 52,000 examiners across seven subjects to take special care to ensure that answer sheets are not damaged by insects, water, or even torn by pets.
This year’s Madhyamik examination concluded on February 12, following which the process of checking and scrutiny began. The board has advised examiners to store answer sheets in safe locations where they cannot be damaged in any way.

The move comes after complaints from a section of the 1,500 chief examiners that several answer sheets were damaged last year. Some had water spilled on them, others were torn, and in certain cases, scratch marks from pets were found on the scripts.
Board Secretary Subrata Ghosh said, "Madhyamik is the first major examination for students. Their future depends on the evaluation of these answer sheets. Therefore, ensuring the security of answer sheets is our responsibility as well as that of the examiners. That is why this notification has been issued."

The notification further states that every examiner must strictly maintain the confidentiality of the answer sheets. Evaluation cannot be carried out in crowded places, and answer scripts cannot be checked while sitting in schools. Discussing the contents of answer sheets with individuals not connected to the examination system is strictly prohibited.
Additionally, examiners have been directed to complete their evaluation work within the timeframe set by the board and submit the answer sheets to the chief examiner promptly, so that results can be published within the scheduled period.
