Buzz around the sequel of 3 Idiots is getting bigger, with reports saying there might be a new addition to the story. The film, originally led by Aamir Khan, could soon have a fresh face joining the famous trio.
As per recent reports, Vicky Kaushal is in talks to play a fourth “idiot,” which could bring a new twist to the story. The sequel might also show a 10-year jump, mixing nostalgia with a modern vibe.

According to reports by Pinkvilla, Vicky Kaushal is likely to join the original cast, including Sharman Joshi and R Madhavan. “Kaushal is keen on sharing screen space with Aamir Khan and contributing to a franchise that enjoys immense recall value," a source shared to the entertainment portal.

As per India Today, reports say discussions between the actors and makers are already in progress. “Multiple meetings between Vicky, Aamir, and Hirani have already taken place, and Vicky has verbally agreed to play the part of the fourth ‘idiot,’ though the timelines have to align for the entire ensemble," the source added. The film is expected to be directed again by Rajkumar Hirani, maintaining continuity with the original vision.
What’s next for the sequel and Vicky Kaushal
The project is currently in its early planning stages, with timelines yet to be finalised. Vicky Kaushal is expected to begin shooting only after completing his ongoing projects, including Mahavatar. He was last seen in Chhaava and is currently working on Love & War, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt.
