The Golden Globe Awards return this Sunday, marking the first major ceremony of Hollywood’s annual awards season. The 83rd edition of the event will be held at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills and will be broadcast live on CBS, with streaming available on Paramount+.
The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 8 pm Eastern Time. Known for its informal seating, dinner-table format and free-flowing drinks, the Golden Globes remain one of the most-watched awards shows globally, despite a long-term decline in television audiences.

Host, broadcast details and viewership
Comedian and actor Nikki Glaser will host the ceremony for the second consecutive year, following her debut as the first woman to host the Golden Globes solo in 2025. Her opening monologue last year drew attention for its sharp humour, including a line describing the event as “Ozempic’s biggest night.”
Speaking after being rehired, Glaser said she was excited to return and described her previous hosting stint as the most enjoyable experience of her career.
Last year’s broadcast drew an average audience of approximately 10 million viewers, holding steady from the previous year. While viewership remains significantly lower than a decade ago, the Golden Globes still rank behind only the Oscars and the Grammys among award shows.
Key nominees and leading titles
The film One Battle After Another leads this year’s nominations with nine nods, including acting nominations for Leonardo DiCaprio and Chase Infiniti, and a directing nomination for Paul Thomas Anderson. The film has been placed in the musical or comedy category, in line with the Globes’ long-standing practice of splitting major film awards by genre.
DiCaprio will compete in the same category as Timothée Chalamet (Marty Supreme) and George Clooney (Jay Kelly). Infiniti’s competition includes Cynthia Erivo (Wicked: For Good), Emma Stone (Bugonia) and Rose Byrne (If I Had Legs I’d Kick You).
The Danish film Sentimental Value follows closely with eight nominations. Actor Renate Reinsve is nominated in the drama category, alongside Jessie Buckley (Hamnet), Julia Roberts (After the Hunt) and Jennifer Lawrence (Die My Love). Male acting nominees in drama include Michael B. Jordan (Sinners) and Dwayne Johnson (The Smashing Machine).

In television categories, The White Lotus leads with six nominations.
Honorary awards and special events
Helen Mirren will receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement in film. Sarah Jessica Parker will be honoured with the Carol Burnett Award for contributions to television. Both awards will be presented during the main ceremony.
Ahead of Sunday’s event, Mirren and Parker will also be celebrated at a separate gala at the Beverly Hilton. A recording of that event, titled Golden Eve, will air on CBS and stream on Paramount+ later this week.
The Golden Globes are traditionally seen as a momentum builder rather than a reliable predictor for the Academy Awards. Still, wins and acceptance speeches often shape narratives heading into the Oscars, which will be held this year on March 15.
