A three-day religious festival celebrating the wedding of the deity Thakur ji was disrupted by a shocking threat on December 7, 2025. The devotees were attending a peaceful 'bhajan sandhya' in a usually secure neighbourhood in Pandara Road, around 6:00 PM. The calm atmosphere was disrupted by a sudden, dangerous pelting of objects. The ambience of peace and serenity had quickly turned into a scene of shock and fear.
Bhajan night ends in terror
The assault started with a green coconut hitting a singer and soon escalated to bricks, stones, and dangerous glass shards being thrown directly into the prayer tent. The initial investigations suggest that the attack took place from a nearby construction site located right behind the gathering. The thrown objects, as dangerous as the broken glass shards, suggest that this was a targeted act that was meant to cause maximum harm to the worshippers. A 60-year-old woman named Madhu Manocha was hit by a piece of glass straight in the face, which caused heavy bleeding. She was immediately rushed to Apollo Hospital in critical condition. Her serious injury shows just how dangerous this unprovoked attack was.

Quick police response and community outrage
The Delhi Police and a forensic team immediately arrived. They sealed off the scene and began collecting evidence. The main focus was the construction site, which was the clear source of the attack. The authorities detained three laborers working at the site for questioning. This is a testament to the police taking this breach of public peace very seriously. The incident has drawn strong condemnation from community leaders. The spokesperson for the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), Vinod Bansal, has publicly slammed the attack. He has called it a major threat to the safety of the Hindu community, even in secure zones. He has demanded that the Delhi Police take immediate and strict action against everyone involved.
