Petrol prices across India registered a minute escalation on December 6, 2025, while the diesel rates continued to show no changes, gripping firmly onto Rs 90.03 per litre in multiple markets. This trend reflects the tender balance between global crude oil movements, local taxation structure, and other major fluctuations that continue to shape daily fuel revisions carried out by OMCs.

Zero escalation in LPG prices

LPG did not climb up the price ladder even today, remaining unchanged at Rs 852.50 per cylinder. This too comes after the cumulative increase of Rs 50 over the span of the previous year, which remains the only notable adjustment in recent times, indicating household fuel expenses remain steady even though petrol undergoes slight variations.

Today’s prices across India’s major cities

In the national capital, petrol stands at Rs 94.77 and diesel at Rs 87.67, whereas Kolkata continues to reflect higher fuel costs, with petrol at Rs 105.41 and diesel at Rs 92.02, marking no changes. In Mumbai, petrol sells at Rs 103.54, showing again a slight change, with diesel being sold at the same price as yesterday for Rs 90.03, followed by Chennai, which recorded a decrease of Rs 0.2 from yesterday’s petrol and diesel rates, currently standing at Rs 101.03 and Rs 92.61 respectively. Gurgaon listed petrol at Rs 95.50 and diesel at Rs 87.97, while Noida registered Rs 94.85 and diesel at Rs 87.98. Southern hubs show similar stability, with Bangalore listing petrol at Rs 102.92 and diesel at Rs 89.99.

Petrol and diesel inches up but LPG holds steady

The little fluctuations in petrol and diesel prices contrasted with the steady LPG rates highlight the differentiated impact of global crude trends on various fuel categories. While petrol seems to react more quickly to the global energy market ups and downs, diesel and LPG remain influenced by separate pricing mechanisms.

Consumers may continue to see small changes following the OMCs’ price revision of this morning. For now, the overall domestic fuel landscape remains relatively stable heading into mid-December.
