A murder case linked to blackmail and personal relationships has been solved by police in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. The accused, Sonu (36), has been arrested in connection with the killing of Gulafshan (35), whose body was found in a field. Police said the case involved allegations of blackmail and disputes connected to multiple relationships. The investigation found a chain of personal connections that led to the crime.

About the case details and blackmail allegations

According to India Today reports, investigators say that Gulafshan had allegedly been blackmailing Sonu by threatening to circulate an explicit video of his wife. The video was reportedly recorded earlier by Gulafshan’s husband, Monu, who was also said to be in a relationship with Sonu’s wife. Police said that this network of relationships eventually led to the fatal incident.

Police said Gulafshan and Monu, residents of Mahmoodpur village under Kankerkhera Police Station area, had been married for two years. On Friday, Gulafshan left home, reportedly to buy books for her children, but did not return.

Her body was found the next morning in a field, around 200 metres away from where the weapon used in the attack was later recovered.

How was the victim found and what did police discover

According to India Today reports, the victim’s body was discovered on Saturday morning in a field, bearing multiple injuries. Police recovered the weapon used in the attack from a nearby location. Officials said Gulafshan had left home the day before but did not return. The crime scene showed signs of a struggle, and injuries suggested she tried to defend herself.

During interrogation, Sonu confessed to the crime, stating that he was being blackmailed over the video and feared exposure. Police said he allegedly called Gulafshan to a field before attacking her with a sharp-edged weapon.

Investigators said the crime scene suggested that the victim tried to defend herself, as one of her fingers was severed during the attack. Blood was found scattered across a wide area, indicating a violent struggle.

Following a complaint filed by the victim’s father, Shahid, a case was registered, and Sonu was arrested. Authorities confirmed that further legal proceedings are underway as the investigation continues.
