A one-year-old child passenger died after experiencing breathing difficulties on board an Air India Express flight travelling from Jaipur to Bengaluru. The incident forced the aircraft to make an emergency landing in Indore on the night of January 6.
Air India Express flight IX1240 was scheduled to reach Bengaluru that night. However, during the journey, the infant passenger’s condition deteriorated, prompting the pilot to seek permission from Air Traffic Control for an emergency landing. The aircraft landed in Indore at around 8 PM.

According to media sources, a doctor travelling on the same flight provided medical assistance and administered CPR to the child mid-air. An ambulance was kept ready at the Indore airport, and the child was immediately taken to a hospital after landing. Despite medical efforts, the child died during treatment.
Confirming the incident, an Air India Express spokesperson said that a medical emergency involving a child arose on January 6, leading to the diversion of the Jaipur–Bengaluru flight to Indore. The spokesperson said the cabin crew, along with a doctor travelling as a passenger, assisted during the emergency, but the child could not be saved. The airline expressed its deepest condolences to the bereaved family.
