The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme, which is known as the PM Kisan Scheme, is a government scheme that provides financial assistance to the agricultural community in India. The beneficiaries are provided a total amount of ₹6,000 every year in three equal instalments of ₹2,000. The amount is disbursed in three different windows, such as April to July, August to November, and December to March. Going by the previous schedules of payment, the 22nd instalment of the PM-Kisan scheme is likely to reach the accounts of beneficiaries in March/April 2026. It was recently highlighted that to receive the amount, the farmer needs to finalise the e-KYC with Aadhaar.

How to complete OTP-based e-KYC?

The PM-Kisan portal has started providing OTP-based e-KYC. This will make it simpler to verify. Farmers only require an active mobile number that is to be connected to Aadhaar. Follow this process:

Visit the PM-Kisan official portal.

Click on the e-KYC option, located at the top right corner of the website.

Enter your Aadhaar number and submit the OTP received on your registered mobile number to complete the verification.

Once e-KYC is done, farmers become eligible to receive the upcoming instalment.

Who is eligible for PM-Kisan?

To avail benefits under PM-Kisan, applicants must:

Be an Indian citizen.

Own cultivable land as per government records.

Have an Aadhaar card linked to their bank account.

Not be an institutional landholder.

Some sections of people who will not be eligible for the tax benefits include persons belonging to the economically weaker sections, government employees, pensioners earning ₹10,000 or more, and professional taxpayers. Every farmer has to undergo either OTP-based or biometric e-KYC to be able to avail the benefits.
