Assam is heating up. Indigenous people have launched a movement alleging that infiltrators are seizing land. This reached its peak on Monday evening. Protesters set fire to the house of Tuliram Ronghang, Chief Executive Member of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC). Police allegedly opened fire to control the situation. Four people, including a paramilitary personnel member, were seriously injured in the incident.
A section of the Karbi indigenous community has gone on a hunger strike, alleging that infiltrators are occupying the reserved forest land of Karbi Anglong. They demand that the government ensure that ancestral land does not fall into anyone else's possession. Police arrested seven protesters on Sunday. Anger spread after this.

Protesters erupted in anger immediately after the incident. Their question: 'Who gave the order to open fire? The government will have to take responsibility for this. Gunfire was opened on us. Three people are hospitalised.' However, it is alleged that stones were thrown at police from the protest march. Police have not arrested anyone so far in connection with the firing incident. The administration has also not spoken about this.
