A speeding car crashed into a police patrol vehicle near the residence of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in Patna’s VVIP zone, injuring an officer and triggering an investigation.

A speeding car entered Patna's VVIP Zone, colliding head-on with a Patna police patrol vehicle stationed on guard close to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's residence. The incident took place on Sunday.

Vehicles suffer heavy damage after impact

Due to the collision, the speeding car broke through the barricade and went onto the opposite side of the road. Photos and videos of the accident have spread widely on social media. The visuals show that the front portions of both vehicles were severely damaged, causing significant damage in the crash.

Police cite overspeeding as the primary cause

Based on a preliminary investigation, Patna Traffic Police DSP Ajit Kumar stated that the accident occurred due to the fault of the driver of the offending vehicle. According to him, the car was travelling at excessive speed.

It is suspected that the accident happened after the driver lost control of the vehicle.

Patrolling officer injured, investigation underway

The DSP further informed that the police officer who was inside the stationary patrolling vehicle narrowly escaped with his life. However, he sustained injuries in the crash.

An investigation into the matter has already begun. Police have interrogated four people suspected of being connected to the accident. DSP Ajit Kumar stated that strict action will be taken against those found guilty after the investigation.

Questions raised over security in VVIP zone

The incident has raised serious concerns about how such a major accident occurred in Patna's VVIP area, so close to the residence of the state's Chief Minister. Authorities are now examining the circumstances that allowed a speeding vehicle to enter such a high-security zone.
