AAP accuses Delhi CM of data manipulation as pollution levels remain 'very poor'

On Wednesday, some areas of Delhi have witnessed a slight improvement in the air quality.

Aam Aadmi Party leader Saurabh Bharadwaj alleged that Delhi's Chief Minister and Environment Minister are manipulating data regarding Delhi's pollution. He alleges that Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Environment Minister Majinder Singh Sirsa are deceiving citizens by manipulating pollution data. He claims that by keeping pollution monitoring stations closed or by sprinkling water on roads, the government is actually trying to mislead people. The AAP leader claims that the government should apologise to the people.

Air quality improved somewhat in Delhi on Wednesday. According to the Delhi Pollution Control Board's 8 AM data, the city's average AQI was 328. Yesterday at around 4 PM, the average AQI level was 354. However, the AQI has decreased only on paper. Delhi's air pollution remains the same. Delhi woke up on Wednesday morning wrapped in a thick blanket of fog. The worst condition is in Delhi's Bawana area. This morning, the AQI of Bawana area was 376.

Air quality remains very poor in multiple locations. According to Pollution Control Board sources, on Wednesday morning, Anand Vihar area's AQI was 341, Narela 342, and the Income Tax office area's AQI was 360. However, some places have witnessed a slight improvement in the air quality. On Wednesday morning, Burari Crossing area had an AQI of 298, Indira Gandhi International Airport area had an AQI of 263, and Mathura Road area had an AQI of 297.

However, the Delhi government has taken strict measures to control pollution. Environment Minister Majinder Singh Sirsa has announced that from December 18 onwards, the government has instructed that no vehicle should be given fuel at any petrol pump in Delhi without valid pollution control documents.
