Priyanka Gandhi Vadra made the comments ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's two-day visit to Israel, where he would hold talks with top Israeli leaders and address the lawmakers.

Modi's visit and diplomatic agenda

Prime Minister Modi's visit, beginning Wednesday, is aimed at strengthening cooperation between India and Israel, particularly in defence and trade sectors. The trip marks his second visit to Israel in nine years.

During his first visit in July 2017, ties between the two countries were elevated to a strategic partnership, a move widely seen as a significant step in deepening bilateral relations.

The upcoming visit is expected to focus on expanding collaboration while reinforcing diplomatic engagement between the two nations.

Political debate over India's Gaza stance

The Congress has simultaneously criticised the Centre's position on the ongoing conflict in Gaza. On Tuesday, the party alleged that the government had effectively abandoned the Palestinians even as Israeli military operations continue in the region, reported National Herald.

Congress communications in-charge Jairam Ramesh accused the Modi government of making "cynical and hypocritical" statements regarding its commitment to the Palestinian cause while, in practice, moving away from it.

The comments reflect an intensifying domestic political debate over India's diplomatic approach as the Prime Minister prepares for high-level engagements in Israel and his address at the Knesset.
